The foundations of AKM technology

This paper presents the Active Knowledge Modelling (AKM) technology. Its background, its scientific foundations, the discoveries, the industrial proof-of-concept of implementations, and the impacts the AKM technology has and will have on future industrial computing. The AKM technology is far from fully implemented, and the roadmap ahead towards a first realization of a Solution Engineering environment is presented. An AKM is a visual model of enterprise knowledge that can be structured, viewed, traversed, analysed, managed, adapted, executed and reused by industrial users.
