Introduction to structural equation modeling

This chapter introduces the basic concepts, terminology, and conceptual sequence of structural equation modeling (SEM) steps. The chapter describes the formulation of the general structural equation model and presents the principles of model specification using the three basic equations and path diagrams. It discusses issues of model identification, model estimation, and model evaluation and modification.
