Abstract

CERAD was funded by the National Institute on Aging with a mandate to standardize assessment in Alzheimer's disease. Accordingly, this program developed and evaluated clinical, neuropsychological and neuropathological assessments, an approach to neuroimaging, a standardized means of obtaining family history, and a behavior rating scale, as well as other measures. Training tapes are available for relevant assessments. Many of these measures have been translated into a number of languages, and used for both clinical evaluation and in epidemiological studies.
