Abstract

Abstract This is a nonparametric test procedure for the analysis of matched‐pair data, based on differences, or for a single sample. The null hypothesis is that the differences, or individual observations in the single‐sample case, have a distribution centered about zero. The absolute values are ranked. The test statistic is the sum of the ranks for either the positive or the negative values. Examples and details, including large‐sample properties, are given.
