Molecular Imaging with PET

Abstract
The development of positron emission tomography (PET) imaging probes is necessary for molecular imaging. A review on some of the most important criteria necessary for a successful central nervous system (CNS) molecular probe has been discussed. A description on the radiolabeling strategies is given as well as on the most useful clinical PET radiopharmaceuticals that are useful for CNS and for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore, certain challenges on small animal PET imaging is also presented as well as its applications in rodent models of human brain diseases.
