Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the seventh most common cancer worldwide and the third most common cause of cancer-related deaths; the number of new cases per year is approaching 750,000.1 The magnitude of the incidence of HCC has discouraged any attempts to apply liver transplantation (LT) as the prevailing curative therapy for HCC worldwide because of the limited sources of donated organs (deceased and living donors) and the poor access to sophisticated health care systems in some geographical areas.
