Objectives
To analyze the evolving role, patterns of use, and costs of critical care medicine in the United States from 2000 to 2005.
Design
Retrospective study of data from the Hospital Cost Report Information System (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Baltimore, Maryland).
