Abstract

Abstract There is probably no other material more closely related to aerospace than titanium and its alloys. With a density of 4.5g/cm 3 , titanium alloys are only about half as heavy as steel or Ni‐based superalloys, yielding an excellent strength‐to‐weight ratio. Furthermore, they have exceptional corrosion resistance. The use of titanium alloys in the aerospace sector will be highlighted including airframe, engine, helicopter, and space applications.
