Abstract

This text seeks to understand how the American culture of shapes what people expect from and what they actually find. The problem it seems is that people face a diverse culture with multiple perspectives and competing experts. American culture speaks of that is perfect and instantaneous and yet it also talks of the constant need to improve relationships. Talk of Love shows how people navigate between discordant messages and how they learn to live with the contradictions they face. In exploring how Americans engage the culture of love, that author also probes what it means to have a culture.
