Self-centering performance of non-slip-type exposed column base

Abstract
A non-slip-type exposed column base using a wedge device has been proposed by the authors to minimize slip of an anchor-bolt-yield-type exposed column base. This device has the following advantages. 1) There is no looseness at the column base after anchor bolt yielding. 2) The column base can be designed as an energy absorption damper in small earthquakes as well as huge ones. 3) The wedge device can be used for rehabilitation of conventional column bases because it is easy to install in existing columnbases.
