COSMUS: New methods for compensation grouting

Abstract

A full control of soil movements is an essential issue for the success of tunnelling sites in urban areas. The COSMUS project aims at developing new specific tools for the technique of compensation grouting. The basis of the project is to integrate in a feedback loop a complete chain of systems including soil investigations by means of drilling parameters recordings, a 3D finite element model, structural movement control and grouting automation systems. An example driven from a recent site on the Metro of Puerto Rico illustrates the approach used.
