Abstract
A concept for coal seam strength is proposed based on quantification of the coal seam structure using the RMR system. A strength criterion is developed for use with the numerical approach to design, supplementing empirical strength formulations of the strength formulas currently used in pillar design. A number of approaches are presented for incorporating the effect of time in pillar design. Un model de renforcement de la structure dans le gisement de houille est proposé dans le present article.
