Rate-dependent behaviour of rock joints Black quartz syenite

Indexed incrossref

Abstract

The importance of the rate-dependent behaviour of rock and its discontinuities on the performance of engineering structures constructed in rock has long been recognized. The rate-dependent properties of interest extend over a wide range of time intervals, from the long term creep behaviour of the rock mass to the rapid deformation of rock slopes and tunnels subjected to earthquake and blast loadings.
