Overview of advancement and development trend on magnesium alloy

Abstract
Magnesium alloys are characterized by their low density (approximately 1.8 g/cm3 for magnesium alloys), high strength, large modulus of elasticity, good heat dissipation, good shock absorption, greater ability to withstand impact load than aluminum alloys, good corrosion resistance to organic matter and alkalinity. According to the statistical analysis of literature data collected by Web of Science Core Collection, it can be found that the growth rate of publications on magnesium alloy during 2008–2018 is significantly higher than the overall growth rate of alloy research papers.
