Abstract
In order to analyze three-dimensional (3-D) slope stability, new 3-D slice methods are proposed by extending Fellenius method, the simplified Bishop method, the simplified Janbu method and Spencer’s method to three dimensions. Calculations are carried out to analyze 3-D effects on simple slopes that have a finite failure width. Applicability of these methods to practical cases and results of small-scale model tests are discussed.
