Abstract

This evidence submission to the DCMS Select Committee around the activities in Cheltenham that contribute to cultural participation. This report explores a template for cultural placemaking through an examination of
\nthe shared economy between these stakeholders and their program of activities. This has
\nbeen done by reviewing aspects of the town’s contribution to the UK’s cultural industry,
\nevaluating the recent economic impacts of government policy. Conclusions are drawn from
\nassessing the impact of the town’s Business Improvement District (BID) scheme and core
\nactivities undertaken by a key cultural interest within the town, Cheltenham Festivals
