Abstract
This volume, part of the large series Philosophy andMedicine, is the first of two volumes devoted to Sexuality and Medicine. In the introduction, Shelp states that the essays (13 in number) are intended to help bridge analytic philosophy and theories of medicine. He adds, Some subjects are discussed generally and others are more narrowly focused. In both instances, however, the contributors have attempted to demonstrate the importance of conceptualizations and empirical findings to understandings of human sexual function, identity, and expression.
