A cyclic thermoviscoplastic constitutive model for clays

Abstract
The study of the effects of radioactive waste disposal in clayey soils necessitates suitable constitutive models taking into account the thermo-mechanical behaviour of soils. In this paper, we present a cyclic thermoviscoplastic model for the numerical simulation of the behaviour of clayey formations submitted to thermal loadings compared to the experimental results. The proposed model has been built on the basis of available experimental results. We only consider the temperature range in which no phase change is produced. The multimechanism structure of the model resulting into the separation of the isotropic and deviatoric aspects facilitates the thermo-mechanical formulation. The model is validated through…
