Prescribing Information

Despite large numbers of prescriptions written by general practitioners at enormous cost, mostly borne by the National Health Service, the information available to doctors about their prescribing until recently has been minimal. Many doctors who have wished to audit their own prescribing have had to supplement the available information by resorting to tedious analysis of carbon copies of prescription forms or more recently to using the facilities available in a computer system, given that they have the expertise to use one.
