Critical discourse analysis

This chapter treats critical discourse analysis (CDA) as a part of critical social analysis. It presents one version of CDA, and a trans-disciplinary research methodology associated with it. It then illustrates this version and methodology through a discussion of the financial and economic crisis which emerged in 2008. The final section of the chapter shows how versions of CDA change in the process of research, and ought to change in response to social (economic, political, cultural) transformations, which call for a reassessment of the objects and methods of CDA.
