Abstract

Organic Chemistry begins with the question: what is organic chemistry? Topics covered include organic structures, molecular structures, organic reactions, nucleophilic substitution, and stereochemistry. There are also chapters on conformational analysis, elimination reactions, formation and reactions of enols and enolates, and chemoselectivity. The text moves on to consider regioselectivity, alkylation and reaction of enolates, retrosynthetic analysis, and aromatic horocycles. There is also coverage of stereoselectivity, diastereoselectivity, pericyclic reactions, and radical reactions. Finally, towards the end, the text looks at synthesis and reactions of carbenes, how to determine reaction mechanisms,…
