Abstract

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) are widely regarded as desirable energy storage devices due to their inherent safety and low cost. Hydrogel polymer electrolytes (HPEs) are cross-linked polymers filled with water and zinc salts. They are not only widely used in flexible batteries but also represent an ideal electrolyte candidate for addressing the issues associated with the Zn anode, including dendrite formation and side reactions. In HPEs, an abundance of hydrophilic groups can form strong hydrogen bonds with water molecules, reducing water activity and inhibiting water decomposition.
