Indexed incrossref
Abstract
This chapter examines in detail the concept of the ‘entrepreneur’. The role of the entrepreneur is defined, and the qualities required for success are identified. Considerable emphasis is placed on skill in the collection and processing of information. Relevant personal qualities include imagination, alertness, self-confidence, persuasiveness, decisiveness, commitment, tolerance of risk, and the ability to inspire confidence and trust. A typology of entrepreneurs is provided, which illustrates the specific qualities required to succeed in specific contexts.
