Abstract
The incidence of water pollution in developing countries is high due to the lack of regulatory policies and laws that protect water bodies from anthropogenic activities and industrial wastewater. Industrial wastewater contains significant amounts of heavy metals that are detrimental to human health, aquatic organisms, and the ecosystem. The focus of this review was to evaluate the sources and treatment methods of wastewater, with an emphasis on technologies, advantages, disadvantages, and innovation.
