Abstract

Potassium-ion batteries (PIBs), with abundant resources and low cost, are considered as a promising alternative to commercial lithium-ion batteries for low-cost and large-scale applications. Over the past decade, significant academic progresses are made in the development of PIBs, including advancements in cathodes, anodes, and electrolytes. However, most improvements are achieved under laboratory conditions (e.g., K metal-based half-cells and low mass loading of active materials), and the performance of PIBs in full cells is still far from the requirements for commercial applications.
