Abstract
• Principles, characteristics, bonding mechanisms, and key factors of main plastic forming processes for LMCs are reviewed. • Heterogeneous deformation, damage, and fracture mechanisms in LMCs, and characterization & modeling methods are summarized. • Formation and evolution of IMCs , and methods to evaluate and regulate the interface performance of LMCs are elucidated. • Challenges and future work on plastic forming of LMCs are orchestrated.
