Abstract
As the use of “decolonization” begins to permeate academic discourse, scholars are reckoning with the colonial and imperial implications of research and the academy. Indigenous scholars are leading the discussion of how to decentralize Western epistemologies and ontologies to bring non-dominant voices to the forefront. Decolonizing research methodologies attends to colonialism throughout the research process by displacing Western paradigms for knowledge systems of communities that have been oppressed by colonization.
