Abstract
The innovative design and development of electrocatalytic CO 2 RR to C 1 have been reviewed. In addition, the optimization of the interplay between the catalyst surface and reaction intermediate was correlated with various in-situ characterization and their plausible reaction mechanism. The electrochemical CO 2 reduction reaction (CO 2 RR) is considered a promising technology for converting atmospheric CO 2 into valuable chemicals. It is a significant way to mitigate the shortage of fossil energy and store excessive renewable electricity in fuels to maintain carbon neutrality.
