Abstract
Vold’s Theoretical Criminology takes a largely historical approach to discuss both classic and contemporary theories of criminology. It presents the historical context and empirical research for each theory. Chapter 1 looks at theory and crime, giving spiritual, natural, and scientific explanations. Chapter 2 looks at classical criminology. The chapter that follows covers biosocial criminology. The fourth chapter is all about the psychological factors of criminology and looks into criminal behavior and at the relationship between criminology and personality, depression, delinquency, race, and IQ.
