Abstract This book examines the complex process of supporting those experiencing acute crisis episodes. Crisis is ubiquitous, and the experience is life changing. Accidents, violent crime, intimate partner abuse, and sudden loss of a loved one are some areas of application of Roberts’s seven-stage crisis intervention model. When addressed effectively, the experience of crisis can transform the life of the individual. Trauma is closely associated with crisis; thus, this text explores a trauma-informed care approach to supporting those in a crisis state.
