Abstract
First published in 1969, The Role of the Teacher demonstrates how the modes of description and analysis employed by sociologists of education can shed light on the teacher’s role in the classroom, school, and society. Contemporary studies of the teacher’s role were primarily presented as research reports and scattered articles. The evidence and conceptual threads brought together in this book contribute to a systematic analysis of the teacher’s role, offering value to both aspiring teachers and experienced educationalists.
