Abstract
This paper reviews the research progress of supercapacitors (SCs), including the influence of electrode materials on energy storage mechanism and performance, and life prediction. Supercapacitors show application potential in many fields due to their high-power density, fast charge–discharge capability, long cycle life, and environmental protection characteristics. In this paper, the energy storage mechanism of the double-layer capacitor, pseudocapacitor, and asymmetric supercapacitor are discussed.
