Abstract

Operative Semiotics: A Grundrisse — a nine-notebook monograph (175,509 words) plus HESPERUS back matter apparatus (28,144 words), deposited as a first book-state (v1.0 draft). Combined: 203,653 words. The monograph completes a project Marx left implicit: a linguistics adequate to historical materialism. It develops operative semiotics — the theory that language is not the description of material conditions but one of their engines.
