Abstract
This paper proposes that consciousness is the synchronous convergence of four operations within a 50 to 150 ms temporal window. The framework derives a directed graph from the brain's architecture, mapping the four neural circuits and their connectivity. Four operations, gating, contextualization, resolution, and commitment, compose into a closed cycle that is an endomorphism, a morphism from a structure to itself. (a) Neurally, the framework proposes these operations are implemented by a Layer 5 pyramidal recurrent loop, a central lateral thalamocortical loop, a VTA-cortical dopaminergic loop, and an ACC-mediodorsal thalamic loop.
