Argira Sonification v23 – Spatial audio based on chromatic centroid for tactile exploration

Indexed indatacite

Abstract

[EN] This deposit contains version v23 of the Argira Sonification tool. It generates sound from an image using four perceptual dimensions derived from the image's chromatic structure. Background Earlier versions (v1, v10, v14) showed a correlation between hue_std (chromatic variance) and spectral fractal dimension Ds. For the final dataset (N=47), the observed correlation was r = 0.9289. What v23 adds Version v23 extends the mapping to spatial audio. Two additional dimensions are used: · centroid.x (saturation‑weighted horizontal chromatic centre) → stereo pan· centroid.y (saturation‑weighted vertical chromatic centre) → register shift (×0.75 to ×1.25 of base frequency) Achromatic regions (black, white, grey)…
